Sorry to hear about this... I can relate, it has happened to me many times. I am a really light sleeper and can't sleep with noise. Well, road noise and cars is ok, but it is people that I can't sleep. I used to use earplugs - I had some foam ones and some wax ones. The wax ones were crazy, like I couldn't hear a single thing... but not too comfy. The foam ones were better but sometimes the neighbours were so noisy all night until 5am... it sucks, I hope you get a solution soon! I say, try earplugs :)
