‎The Day I Learned Not to Judge People Too Quickly ‎

in SciFi Multiverse4 days ago

‎Hello Hives,

‎If there is one lesson life has taught me, it's that first impressions can be very convincing but they are not always correct.

‎I used to believe I could tell what kind of person someone was within a few minutes of meeting them. If they smiled a lot, I assumed they were friendly. If they were quiet or looked serious, I often concluded they were proud or difficult to approach. Looking back now, I realize how unfair that was.

‎There was a time when I met a man at an event. He barely spoke, kept to himself, and didn't seem interested in chatting with anyone. My first thought was, "This guy must think he's better than everyone else." Because of that, I never made any effort to talk to him.

‎A few weeks later, we met again through a mutual friend and ended up spending more time together. That was when I discovered how wrong I had been. He was one of the most humble and kind-hearted people I had ever met. He was not rude or proud at all. He simply struggled to start conversations with people he didn't know. Once he became comfortable, he was funny, thoughtful, and always ready to lend a helping hand.

‎And that experience really humbled me. It made me realize that we often judge people based on a few seconds without knowing what they are dealing with. Some people are naturally outgoing, while others need time to warm up. That does not make either of them a bad person.

‎Even though first impressions are not always accurate, I still believe they matter. The truth is, people notice the little things. A warm smile, good manners, clean appearance, and the way we speak can make others feel comfortable around us. You don't have to pretend to be someone you're not. Just be respectful, genuine, and approachable. Those simple things leave a lasting impression.

‎At the same time, we should also learn to give people the benefit of the doubt. Not everyone shines in the first five minutes. Some of the best friendships begin after we move past our wrong assumptions and take the time to know the person behind the first impression.

‎Since that experience, I hsve stopped rushing to label people. Instead, I try to stay open-minded because I have learned that first impressions may open the door, but they rarely tell the whole story. Sometimes, the person you almost ignored ends up becoming someone you truly appreciate.

A lot of people are like that, they hardly start a conversation, not because they feel big, it is just in their nature not too. but when you get familiar with them, you get to know them better.

I for one know not to judge people by their first impression because first impressions are often deceiving, but it is a norm for people to judge you at the first few seconds the meet you, it is the way the brain tries to cut corners to know how to interact with others.

First impression are usually deceiving

Hmmm! I have seen people like that too. The struggle to start a conversation when they meet people for the first time, but once they get comfortable you will love them

Once they get started, they don't stop

I agree with you that to avoid being sentimental and judgmental, we need to take a second look at things and situations before conclusions are made. If not, we would end up tagging people wrongly. First impressions sometimes might be misleading or inconclusive until we allow time to elapse to prove our thoughts about the person or situation wrong or right.
