Wars, starvation, and suffering! Why? Why do we have all these plaguing our lives now? Why is the world lacking peace? Why is insecurity a trend in the world now? Why is our nations plagued with many insane situations? What is the cause of the present sufferings that is tormenting the world? Is all these not happening to us because we have left the ways of God? Are we not in the mess that we find ourselves because we have been disobedient to the commandments of God? The Bible says that if we are willing and obedient, we will eat the good of the land.
The children of Israel stuffered everytime they turned their back against the laws of God. They had no peace whenever they disobeyed the commandments of God. God usually sends them famines and pestilences that waste away crops and yield. Sometimes, when they have finished cultivating their farmlands, their enemies will come and harvest what they had planted. All these happened to them because they refuse to obey the commandments of God.
Judges 6:1-6 (KJV) And the children of Israel did evil in the sight of the LORD: and the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian seven years.
And the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel: and because of the Midianites the children of Israel made them the dens which are in the mountains, and caves, and strong holds.
And so it was, when Israel had sown, that the Midianites came up, and the Amalekites, and the children of the east, even they came up against them;
And they encamped against them, and destroyed the increase of the earth, till thou come unto Gaza, and left no sustenance for Israel, neither sheep, nor ox, nor ass.
For they came up with their cattle and their tents, and they came as grasshoppers for multitude; for both they and their camels were without number: and they entered into the land to destroy it.
And Israel was greatly impoverished because of the Midianites; and the children of Israel cried unto the LORD.
The solution to our problem is for us to return back to God and obey His commandments. We should obey the Word of God. We cannot live in disobedience to God and enjoy peace and abundance. Suffering will always follow the people who refuse to keep the laws of God.
