A couple of days ago, one of my brothers gave me a passion fruit that he picked directly from the vine near the river where he works. It was on my table for a couple of days, and today I thought of blending it with a little water, sugar, a splash of lemon, and voilà—a delicious and refreshing juice.
Suddenly, I remembered that I have a good amount of pineapple in the freezer, so the idea of mixing these fruits seemed great to me. The sweet and acidic flavor of the pineapple pairs very well with the delightful citrusy taste of the passion fruit.
I prepared the drink quite concentrated so I could perceive the flavors in very intense notes. Despite having a nice touch of acidity, pineapple is also quite sweet, which helped me use less sugar.

Hace un par de días uno de mis hermanos me regaló una maracuyá que recogió directamente de la mata cerca del río de donde él trabaja, estuvo en mi mesa un par de días y hoy pensé en licuarla con un poco de agua, azúcar, un chorrito de limón y listo, un jugo exquisito y refrescante.
De pronto, recordé que en el congelador tengo una buena cantidad de piña así que la idea de mezclar estas frutas me resultó genial, el sabor dulce y a la vez ácido de la piña combina muy bien con el cítrico deleitoso de la maracuyá.
Preparé la bebida bien cargadita o concentrada para percibir los sabores en notas bien intensas. La piña a pesar de tener un buen toque ácido también es bastante dulce, lo que ayudó también a usar poca cantidad de azúcar.

Ingredients for 1 very concentrated glass:
- 1 passion fruit.
- 1 cup of frozen pineapple chunks.
- 1 cup of filtered water.
- 1 teaspoon of sugar.
Ingredientes para 1 vaso bien concentrado:
- 1 maracuyá.
- 1 taza de piña congelada en trozos.
- 1 taza de agua filtrada.
- 1 cucharadita de azúcar.
Preparation // Preparación:
The preparation of this juice is very simple. If you have a blender, it will do almost all the work.
In the photo, you see half of the passion fruit, but in reality, I cut it and added all the pulp from one half since it wasn't completely full. I also set aside a little, about a teaspoon, for the final touch.
I blended the passion fruit pulp with the water. Then I strained it and poured the juice back into the blender cup after rinsing it to remove any traces of crushed seeds.
La preparación de este jugo en muy sencillo, si tienes una licuadora, ella hará prácticamente todo el trabajo.
En la foto se ve la mitad de la maracuyá pero en realidad la corté y agregué toda la pulpa en una de las mitades ya que no estaba totalmente llena, también aparté un poco, como una cucharadita para el efecto final.
Licué la pulpa de la maracuyá con el agua. Colé y volví a verter el jugo en el vaso de la licuadora luego de enjuagarla para quitar rastros de semillas trituradas.

Finally, I blended the pineapple with the passion fruit juice and the teaspoon of sugar until all the ingredients were well mixed.

To serve, I added the teaspoon of passion fruit pulp I had reserved to make the drink more attractive and provocative.
