I thought it might be a good idea to write a post just to avoid making my friends worry about me.
I am alive, staying in Kyiv, and this fact sometimes surprises me.
Earlier, in June, I went to visit my girlfriend in Spain again, hoping that it would be a wonderful holiday for my husband and me. But he was not released from the service, it was a time of heavy fighting in eastern Ukraine, and one of his colleagues was killed. So I didn't take a holiday and worked remotely. Before returning home (which take at least 24h of travel), I took 4 days off just to relax before the long journey, and to have a day to rest after return. But... in the morning of the first day, I read on news that the ruzzian missile hit 5-storey residental house 200 meters from mine. I don't know how to convey these feelings. It must have been a shock... Although, my hubby was sleeping at home at the moment, he was okay and all our windows were intact. There were 1 broken window below us and 1 on the ground floor. I decided not to stay with my thoughts, far from home, but to go to a neighbouring town to relax and take a walk. Because of my condition, I had an unpleasant situation that cost me a couple of hundred euros. However, at least I was able to finally cry.
Eventually, my hubby got his 15 days vacation. We did not make plans about abroad trip and booked our usual house in the mountain village in Carpathians. A few days ago we survived another massive drone and missile attack on Kyiv. It was preceded by a huge thunderstorm raging over Kyiv for 3 nights in a row, with the doors shaking from the thunder. It was frightening. And then in the night a Russian missile destroyed part of a 9-storey residential building with a direct hit. Thirty-one people died there. It was close enough for me to feel our house shake. Our walls are quite thin, and we can hear drones and even missiles flying overhead. They fly very low.
If you map out the places where drones, missiles and wreckage fell, my neighbourhood will look like Swiss cheese.
But now I AM ON VACATION! I AM WITH MY LOVED ONES!
Yesterday we made all the way from Kyiv to my hometown on the west of Ukraine. It took 7 hours of driving. We passed by many stupid car accidents but arrived to my mom's place safe and sound. And I slept so good! ❤️ Night air raids are rare here, well, not every night at least.
Today I had a lovely day with my daughter and a hubby. Priceless moments together. I miss my mum so much, and my hometown.
Tomorrow we are heading towards the mountains. Wish us a good rest, and let this night be quiet.
Yours,
