Yikes, I'm glad that you're OK! I had a very similar thing happen to me one day when I was riding my bike to work one time when I lived in Tempe, Arizona. I was riding down the sidewalk, when a car pulled up right in front of me. I had the instant decision to either hit the car, or slam on my brakes and go flying off my bike onto the sidewalk.
